MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A community is trying to heal after a 6-year-old boy in Madison County was hit and killed by a car.
"He enjoyed class, he loved to dance and he was easy to make friends with," said Tamisha Ealy, a teacher at Madison County Central School.
Andrew Davis Jr. was the light of his classroom at Madison County Central School.
"He was a sweet little boy," Ealy said. "He reminded me of my son actually because he was quiet and humble and very smart."
According to FHP, a driver was traveling north on Parramore avenue, approaching the intersection at Miller street. That's when FHP says the driver tried to avoid hitting 6-year-old Andrew Davis Jr.
"It devastated me because like I said he's an angel. He was very precious, very mannerable and to hear that someone that young passing away that you had an opportunity to interact with is very devastating," said Ealy.
On Facebook, comments came pouring in about the loss of the child.
"Everyone made sure they were calling the family, calling people that interacted with this young boy to make sure that everyone was together and okay," Ealy explained. "You know it just seemed like this is the most love I've seen in Madison County."
FHP says alcohol did not play a factor in the accident and charges are currently pending for the driver.
Funeral services for Davis are scheduled for Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Zion AME Church.
