MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Madison correctional officer is in stable condition after being stabbed multiple times by an inmate.
On Monday, at about 11:00 p.m., an officer was assaulted by an inmate at Madison Correctional Institution.
Inmate Ilisiah Williams stabbed the officer multiple times with an improvised weapon. Florida Department of Corrections said thanks to the swift response of the other staff, the inmate was subdued before the situation escalated any further.
Medical staff examined the officer and noted severe injuries which required medical treatment.
The incident is currently under investigation by the FDC Office of Inspector General. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Williams was serving time for second degree murder and was sentenced to 32 years in a Florida State Prison.
