MADISON CO., Fla. -- Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart is recognizing two of his deputies for their efforts in reducing aggressive driving, speeding, and drunk driving.
Deputy Odell Livingston received an award in recognition for having the highest traffic activity second to the full time assigned traffic officer. Deputy David Myers received an award of recognition for having the highest DUI activity.
When it comes to traffic incidents, Madison County has high numbers. According to the Sheriff's officials, the county rates first in aggressive driving and speeding, and sixth in violators driving under the influence. These numbers are out of 26 Florida counties similar in size and population to Madison County.
Madison County experienced a total of 9 traffic fatalities during 2012, according to officials.
Sheriff's officials say that the deputies reflect the proactive and excellent level of services the department offers to all Madison County residents.
