MADISON CO., FL (WTXL) - Madison County has become the smallest county in the country to earn a nationally recognized certification.
It's through the emergency management accreditation program.
Emergency management programs use accreditation to prove the capabilities of their disaster preparedness and response systems.
The EMAP process evaluates emergency management programs in compliance with requirements in sixteen different areas.
Those include: planning, resource management, training, exercises, evaluations, corrective actions, and communications and warning.
EMAP is the only accreditation process for this program.
Madison County is now the 7th county in Florida to earn this certification.
