MADISON, Fla. -- Two people are facing charges after being arrested by deputies assigned to patrol along the Withlacoochee River.

The incident happened on Sunday, March 3, just before 10:30 p.m. A Madison County sheriff's deputy stopped a white Chevrolet Blazer. Officials say the vehicle had driven through a physical barricade on River Park Road.

According to a Sheriff's office investigation, the two people inside the vehicle-- David Cliff Richardson and Heather Elane Webb--- were prowling. Deputies say a search of the vehicle uncovered several burglary tools.

Richardson and Webb are charged with loitering and prowling, and possession of burglary tools.

While the Withlacoochee River is at flood levels, Sheriff Stewart asks those concerned about their property to contact the Sheriff’s office before trying to return to it.

Madison County Sheriff Ben Steward has also assigned extra patrol deputies at locations along the Withlacoochee River. In addition, officers with the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission are on water and highway patrol to deter trespassing, loitering, prowling, burglary, and theft in the area.
