MACON, Ga. (AP) — A teenager told authorities in Macon two armed men robbed him as he headed to a school bus stop.
Local news media report the 16-year-old told investigators the men approached him around 7 a.m. Wednesday. He said they took his cellphone, backpack and shoes. The teen was not injured.
The Bibb County sheriff's office says that shortly after the robbery was reported, deputies spotted two men fitting the description of the robbers. They arrested 19-year-old Michael Mitchell after a foot chase, but the second man got away.
Mitchell faces an armed robbery charge. He was being held in the Bibb County jail, and it wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment.
The Telegraph newspaper reports the second suspect has been identified but wasn't immediately located.
