TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Maclay School is hosting their very first Veteran's Salute on Friday, November 9th.
“This is a great way for students to honor members of their families and to understand the importance of Veterans Day,”said 5th grade teacher Laura Armstrong who had the idea of hosting veterans this year.
Students who have a relative who is serving or has previously served in the military are encouraged to invite them to campus. School officials say veterans will enjoy a campus parade and a reception hosted by the Maclay Parents Organization.
During the parade, students will hand out appreciation letters to veterans and patriotic art will be on display.
Maclay is expecting about 25 veterans to attend the parade.
