LOWNDES Co., GA (WTXL) - The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a person who robbed a Dollar General employee while they were getting into their car.

According to deputies, the employee was leaving the store around 3:30 p.m. when a person ran up and prevented the employee from closing the door. The suspect grabbed a bag filled with the store's deposit and ran.

The employee chased the suspect but eventually lost sight. Deputies and a canine unit were called out but the suspect was not found.

Deputies say the suspect is believed to be "a young black male was wearing knee length shorts and dark blue shirt". He is also believed to have been driving a small silver or gray car on Georgia Highway 12 toward Lakeland after the robbery.
