LOWNDES COUNTY Ga. -- Emergency responders were called to an address on Teresa Drive in Lowndes County Monday morning, after a man was found unresponsive in Lake Park.
Officials on the scene pulled the man to shore and began attempts to resuscitate him, but unfortunately they were unsuccessful.
Deputies with the Sheriff's Office say they are continuing to conduct interviews and process evidence found at the scene.
An exact cause of death has not been determined although officials say alcohol may have been a factor.
Working with the Lowndes County Coroner's office, detectives have requested an autopsy which will be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Sheriff Chris Prine said, "We are continuing with this investigation and the autopsy will shed some light on the exact cause of death. If anyone has information about this incident I would encourage them to contact our detective office."
The identity of the man will not be released until authorities can contact his next-of-kin.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about this or any other case to contact them at {229} 671-2950; or anonymous tips can be provided at {229} 671-2985 or on-line.
