LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - One South Georgia County is showing you how to property set off fireworks, so no one gets hurt this coming holiday.
Lowndes County Fire and Rescue lit a variety of explosives, demonstrating the proper way to handle them.
Lowndes County Fire Marshal, Lloyd Green, says people should aim away from trees and people, buy explosives that complement the size of your property, and most importantly, read the instructions for all fireworks.
"Just follow the directions of the box, no holding the fireworks, keep them anchored, some require you to dig a small hole, and put them inside, up to about two thirds of it," said Green.
Lowndes County reminds the community that it is illegal to shoot fireworks after 9 p.m. and the only day those hours are extended is on July 4 until midnight.
