LOWNDES COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Now that hurricane season is underway, Lowndes County officials want to make sure people are prepared.
Each week they're focusing on a different topic and this week is on the importance of building an emergency kit.
They say your emergency kit should have items like water, non-perishable foods, a can opener, radio, maps, prescription medications, pet food, and if you have kids, make sure to include things like diapers.
Lowndes County officials are also hosting a community wide hurricane planning meeting.
That's next Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rainwater Conference Center.
