THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - A lockdown at Thomas University has ended after bullet hit a building on the university's Magnolia Campus.

At about 2:45 p.m. this afternoon, Thomas University issued an emergency notice locking down all campuses. Right before the emergency message, a gunshot struck the Student Life Center on TU’s Magnolia Campus.

The university says that administrators were on the scene and immediately locked down that building and initiated the university-wide emergency protocol.

The City of Thomasville Police Department and Thomas County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the scene.

No one was injured. Law enforcement officials said the gunshot was not related to Thomas University. They will report on this in the future.

Once law enforcement officials determined everything was safe, the lockdown was lifted and TU business resumed as usual.

The Thomasville Police Department said that they have had reports of shots fired on South Street near the area of Thomas University's Gymnasium.

They said that the only information they have about it is that one groups of subjects involved are in a white car while the other group is in a green car, firing gunshots at the white car.

They have asked anyone with information to contact Thomasville Police Department at 229-227-3302.
