VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) -- Classes at Valdosta State University have been canceled for Friday.
All on-campus activities scheduled for Friday are also called off, university officials say.
The move to suspend campus operations come before an anticipated demonstration Friday afternoon in response to the recent controversy over purported desecration of the American flag during a protest on campus last weekend.
Employees who have been directed by their supervisor are still expected to report to work. On-campus residents are advised of an increased law enforcement presence during protest activities.
Normal operations will resume Saturday, according to a statement from the university.
