A tornado watch is in effect until 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time for many coastal Big Bend counties.
Specific counties under this watch include Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison, Lafayette, and Taylor. Waterways of Apalachee Bay are also included.
A band of strong storms is moving through the WTXL viewing area from the west. A line of storms has made progress through the region, reaching the tri-state area around midday and advancing to the east. Heavy rain is possible for the late-afternoon hours across the central Big Bend, with a few storms containing strong wind gusts.
Isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out, especially near the coast, through the early-evening time frame.
The overall severe threat is forecast to decrease later in the evening, and in interior areas, where extra instability and energy in the atmosphere aren't present.
