LIVE OAK, Fla. (WTXL) -- Investigators are looking into a crash following a chase with deputies that left two people dead and two others injured.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say Lonnie Lavern Freeman, 20, and Patrelle J. Stokes, 16, both of Live Oak were killed in the crash that happened around 12:50 a.m. November 28.
According to an incident report from FHP, Suwannee County deputies were called out just before 1 a.m. Thanksgiving morning to to an active disturbance call at the McDonalds restaurant at US 129 and Interstate 10 in Live Oak.
As deputies arrived, investigators say the driver of the car, now identified as Freeman, took off. Traveling south on US 129, deputies followed the car as it approcahed Spruce Street NW where it flipped as the driver was trying to make a right turn. THe vehicle hit the side of the North Florida Workforce building located at 815 Ohio Avenue.
Freeman and Stokes were both pronounced dead at the scene. According to the incident report from FHP, two other passengers, Kwon Lavelle Matthews, 23, and Shiatera Wimbasn, 20, both of Live Oak, were taken by helicopter to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville where they were last listed in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
