TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- School officials said that someone made threats on social media about violent acts that were to occur Thursday on the campus of Rickards High School.

Statement sent to parents by Principal Douglas Cook:

The administration of James S. Rickards High School has been made aware of threats of violence via social media that may occur tomorrow during normal school operating hours. We would like to assure parents, and the community that we do not take threats lightly and will secure extra security at the school. The administration of James S. Rickards High School is well practiced in its Safety Plan, and will be taking full measure to ensure a normal operating school day to occur. Any student who violates the Leon County School Board policies will face the full extent of the policies and consequences.

No other details were released about the threats that were made or who made them. Leon County Schools did say that as of 11am Thursday, the school was "operating smoothly".

Another student at Rickards was arrested recently for bringing a gun to school. That student was arrested on campus after he posted a video of himself with the gun that was taken while he was in class, said deputies.
