TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Central Florida deputies have arrested a man they believe is responsible for multiple robberies in several states, including a gas station robbery in Taylor County.

Captain Ron Rice with Taylor County Sheriff's Office confirms the arrest was made Tuesday night in Merritt Island in Brevard County, Florida.

Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV reports Kenneth Wood, Jr., 40, was arrested after a six-hour standoff in at a home of a relative in a trailer park in Brevard County.

WFTV reports Wood escaped from a Delaware prison work program back in December and then pulled off two armed robberies before fleeing to Florida.

Wood is accused of robbing the Johnson and Johnson Shell Station located at the intersection of CR-30 and US 19 in Perry. He's also accused of two armed robberies in Alabama.

WFTV reports that according to investigators, Wood tried to escape through the floor of the home during the standoff.

"Apparently he was able to, through some measure, able to get out through the floor of the trailer. As soon as he did we made our presence known and he decided it was probably in his best interest to go back into the trailer," said Ivey.

Investigators said that Wood asked to talk to a family member, and a short time later he surrendered. WFTV reports Wood was being held on sexual battery charges, and failed to return after being on an authorized pass from the Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown, Delaware.
