TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The 2016 election is going to be a big one for local politics. At least four people have announced their intention, or filed paper work, to run for Superintendent of Leon County Schools.
At a news conference held Tuesday on the steps in front of Rickards High School, Jackie Pons announced his intention to run for re-election.
Rocky Hanna also filed his paperwork Tuesday morning to run for superintendent, according to the election office.
Two other people have already filed their paper work with the Leon County Elections Office to run for superintendent.
City Commissioner Scott Maddox has thrown his hat in the ring, as well as Michael Wynn.
Maddox's seat on the commission is up for re-election, but according to the elections office, he has withdrawn his name from that race.
