TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - People have different ways of coping with a death in the family. For the families of fallen military, they are using art to remember their loved ones.

The Gallery for Innovation and the Arts in Tallahassee is holding an exhibiting called "Florida Gold Star Families." It features the works created by the loved ones of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan - or by the soldiers themselves.

Kelly Kowall's son, Corey died in Afghanistan in 2009. Kowall says that the exhibit serves as a reminder to others about the sacrifice soldiers and their families make in times of war. She also finds art to be a great way to help her through the grieving process of losing her son.

Kowall says "Anytime you can find something that's healing, whether it's sitting down and drawing or painting or knitting, it's all helpful in that grief process that we go through."

The exhibition has about 30 pieces and will be on display through September 27.
