TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Miccosukee Greenway will be receiving a funding boost for the final phase of improvements thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection.
This final phase consists of covering exposed tree roots as well as adding draining and erosion control measures. There are also plans to resurface the trail, which will allow more accessibility to visitors.
The Department of Environmental Protection is kicking off this phase through an approval of $200,000 to spend on 25 other projects statewide. In total, the department approved over $4 million for statewide trail projects.
This funding is also being matched by a $200,000 contribution from Leon County.
The Miccosukee Greenway is a 1.5 mile trail that runs between Fleishman Road and Edenfield Road.
