TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- A local family will spend the holiday season in a brand new home, thanks to a grant from a state agency.

The residents, Robert and Nelda Neff, received a replacement home courtesy of Florida's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Emergency Set-Aside Program. The Neff's original home was damaged due to severe rain storms in March and April 2009.

The Department of Economic Opportunity administers the program. They awarded Leon County with the CDBG grant to fund recovery projects related to severe weather. The project had to address serious, urgent community needs that posed an immediate and direct threat to the health, safety, and welfare of residents of low and moderate income.

The Neffs received the keys to their new dwelling on December 20, 2012. The keys were presented at a ribbon cutting and ceremony attended by Leon County and Department of Economic Opportunity leaders.
