TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The family of Farhan "Ronny" Ahmed spoke about his condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Monday. Ahmed is one of three victims in Thursday's shooting at Strozier Library at Florida State University.

Ahmed's sister, Farhana Amhed, spoke on behalf of the family. She thanked the community for their support and says that he has received teddy bears, flowers, and letters of support.

She said that her brother's condition has from from critical to serious, and because of his injuries, he will be paralyzed from the waist down. According to the hospital, one of the bullets severely damaged his spinal cord.

Ahmed, a 21-year-old biomedical engineering student, is in high spirits, according to his sister, and she says that he plans on finishing his degree at Florida State.

FSU President John Thrasher and FSUPD Chief David Perry were in attendance at the press conference.

Ahmed was shot three times in Strozier Library just after midnight Thursday.

Friends of Ahmed have created a page to help raise money to pay for his hospital costs. The page already has over $40,000 dollars raised.
