TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Are your Facebook photos helping stalkers track you down?

Most photos taken by smartphones are encrypted with various information. That includes when and where the photo was taken.

In this week's "For Your Protection", (VIDEO BELOW) Officer David Northway with Tallahassee Police Department explains that people can use free software on their computer to get specific information about photos they see from the internet, include many social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flikr, and Instagram.

The best way to protect yourself from giving away too much information is to change the GPS settings in your phone.
