EMS Helicopter Forced To Make Emergency Landing in Tallahassee

Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)--UPDATE: 7:01a.m---The Leon County Sheriff's Office says a medical helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing near Summit Lake Drive around the area of the Staybridge Suites Hotel.

A Sheriff's Deputy tells us the chopper landed in a nearby open grass field after a panel malfunction.

The Deputy says he was called out to assist and guard the helicopter as the pilot didn't want to leave the aircraft unattended.

No one else was inside the aircraft other than the pilot.

Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)---The Consolidated Dispatch agency confirms an active police presence outside a building on Summit Lake Drive in Tallahassee. 

According to a nearby resident, a squad car from the Leon County Sheriff's Office along with a helicopter were seen outside of a work building on Friday July, 10th just after 5:30a.m.

No further details were given by the Consolidated Dispatch Agency as to why deputies were on the scene. This story is developing but we'll continue to keep you updated right here on WTXL.TV
