VALDOSTA, Ga.-- Second Harvest hosted a Duck Derby Race at Wild Adventures. Hundreds of attendees adopted plastic rubber ducks for five dollars each which then raced through the waterway.
All proceeds go to support the efforts of second harvest of South Georgia, a hunger-relief charity that distributes more than one million pounds of food per month.
Second Harvest says one duck can feed a child every day for a week at their Kids Cafe program.
This year, more than 6,000 ducks were adopted, which is enough to provide more than 24,000 meals.
