TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Members of the Leon County Sheriff's Dive Team have recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing Sunday in a sinkhole.

An autopsy on the unidentified person is being done.

Lt. James McQuaig with LCSO says deputies were called out around 5:45 p.m. May 19 to a sinkhole located at 4225 Crawfordville Highway. Witnesses told deputies that a group of friends had been swimming in the sink hole for two hours when a man jumped into the sinkhole and began to struggle. Several people began helping the swimmer but were unsuccessful.

After an extensive search, the swimmers body was recovered Monday morning.
