TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The B. L. Perry branch of the Leon County Public Library system provided an opportunity to experience science during the summer vacation from school.

The library's "Brainshops" workshop series has featured various experts and presenters to give children insight into many aspects of science and related careers, ranging from food nutrition, to bee keeping, to fire fighting, and meteorology.

Hazardous weather phenomena were featured Wednesday as chief meteorologist Casanova Nurse gave a 45-minute talk to about two-dozen people of various ages.  Topics covered in the discussion included the thunderstorm development process and safety tips related to lightning, flooding, tornadoes and hurricanes.

Science presentations continue through Friday at the library at 2817 S. Adams Street in south Tallahassee.
