MADISON, Fla. (WTXL) -- Weather and news blended together in the latest "Cas in the Class" presentation provided to the Journalism I students of Madison County High School.

Chief Meteorologist Casanova Nurse provided insight into how meteorology and weather forecasting are integrated into a broadcast news operation, and gave examples of how weather events can become the major headline of the day.

Casanova also covered basic meteorological principles with the students.  Additionally, he highlighted how the digital revolution and the widespread use of mobile technology have caused news distribution methods to change in recent years.  Lastly, Casanova emphasized to the budding journalists the importance of having facts correct, rather than trying to release possibly bad information in an effort to be first.

If you are a teacher or coordinator of a civic organization and would like to have Casanova or another Storm Team meteorologist to speak to your group, email weather@wtxl.tv with your request.
