TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Local veterans took part in the first Honor Flight Charter from Tallahassee.

The flight took off at 7:00 a.m. on May 11. It took the group of WWII veterans to Washington, D.C. to spend the day visiting historic sites and memorials to veterans. They are accompanied by care takers and medical personnel who pay their own way.

Their flight home is scheduled to return around 9:30 p.m. A group of supporters will be waiting to welcome them back at Tallahassee Regional Airport.
