TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- A group of local veterans are working to send supplies to those affected by Hurricane Irma in South Florida.

Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Tallahassee chapter are trying to fill a trailer with items like canned food, baby food, personal care, and household products.

They're filling the trailer with donations to send to people affected by Hurricane Irma in South Florida early next week.

The group also asks for anyone willing to able to help load the trailer with the donations.

Joe West, chapter president here in Tallahassee, says that they're happy to give back and lend a helping hand to their fellow man.

"Thank the Lord we dodged a major part of that storm and we're still able to put an effort together. Hopefully we'll fill that big trailer up and get it down south Monday night. People really have a need for this and are really struggling to just get by day by day."

You can drop off any goods at the Vets Center on Lake Ella tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday until 7 P.M.

Checks and money orders can also be mailed to 241 Lake Ella Drive, Tallahassee, Fla. 32303.
