TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Teachers in Tallahassee are busy preparing for their students to soon fill their classrooms.

Fairview Middle School is expecting more than 800 students this school year.

Teachers are using this week to get their classrooms set up and prepare their lesson plans.

We spoke to one teacher who is new to Fairview Middle School and is eager to meet her new students.

"I'm really excited, I can barely sleep. I keep thinking about all the stuff I need to get done before they come," said 6th grade teacher Amanda Farrell. "I'm trying to get pencils and tags ready for when they come in they will have something on their desk as a gift as a welcome back. I'm just excited to see them and see how they are and let them know me."

Farrell is assigned to 28 students this year.

August 13 is the official first day of school.
