TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Starbucks locations in Northwest Florida are partnering with the Florida Department of Children and Families to highlight local children and teens available for adoption during the holiday season.
During December, five Starbucks locations in Tallahassee and Panama City will be featuring photos of children up for adoption, courtesy of the Heart Gallery, a photography exhibit that helps find permanent homes for children in foster care.
The Department of Children and Families says that about 750 children in Florida are in foster care and up for adoption.
DCF Circuit 2 Community Development Administrator Jeanna Olson says that Starbucks is a prime location to bring awareness to the amount of children who are looking for a family: "Every day, Starbucks has thousands of customers who enter their stores, hopefully, a few customers will notice these photos and decide to explore the possibility of adoption."
