QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) - Students are back in class but some still may not have everything they need. That's why one Gadsden County organization is stepping in.
Any student in need of school supplies can come out to the Gadsden County Public Library Main Branch in Quincy.
This drive is part of a nationwide project hosted by the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority called 'Operation: Big Book-Bag.' The local chapter has partnered with the library to hand out more than 100 bags full of school supplies and toiletries.
Library director and sorority member Tabitha Washington says that hosting the drive during the first week of school is a good idea.
"Sometimes when you go back to school, you may not have everything that you need, so this gives parents and students the chance to get the extra items that they may not have picked up when they were doing their back to school shopping," said Washington.
Washington also mentioned that offering the drive for a full week gives parents and students more opportunity to come out.
