TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- It may be easy for you to just turn up the thermostat when the temperature drops, but many elderly people in the area aren't as fortunate.

That's why Elder Care Services is asking for your help to get space heaters.

The agency gets about 10 calls a day asking for a heater, but they're having trouble getting that filled and now have a wait list of more than 40 people.

"They're cold... Some seniors crack their oven open [to get warm] which is very dangerous," said Elder Care Services officials.

You can drop off a space heater or financial donation at Elder Care Services at 518 W. Tennessee St. in Tallahassee. You can also call (850) 921-5554 or click here for more information.
