GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Gadsden County school is stepping up by feeding those who are trying to restore power.

Linemen and those helping to clean up the county were invited to eat a hot meal at James A. Shanks Middle-School.

School Superintendent, Roger Milton, said many restaurants in Quincy are still not open, so a lot of people are looking for a hot meal.

"Everybody in Gadsden have gone through some devastating times and we are so blessed and so fortunate that although there are a lot of trees down and the power is out, to see so many people come together and work together and to see so many people help to make sure that our children and our families have food," said Milton. "Hot food that is so vitally important to us."

Shanks will also be providing a hot meal to families Thursday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
