TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Thanks to a local organization, people in Tallahassee are staying fed through the summer months.

Christian Heritage Church opened their doors for the Good Samaritan Network's Food Pantry Giveaway on Thursday.

About 50 volunteers from around the community joined in to help provide food and clothing to those in need.

Food up for donation was supplied by the organizations Farmhouse and Second Harvest.

Volunteers say the end result makes all their work worth it.

"It is so gratifying just to know that there are so many people within our community and surrounding areas that need help with their groceries and have basic needs that are met through this community effort," said volunteer Vicki Harris.

This event will continue every Thursday for the month of July.

Those who are income eligible or have food stamps will be required to fill out a form before picking up donated items.
