TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A local non-profit organization is using a generous end of the year donation from the Mary Kay Foundation to build up their services to help domestic violence victims in the area get back up on their feet again.
The Mary Kay Foundation recently gave Refuge House, a shelter for domestic violence victims, a grant for $20,000.
The money received from the grant will help support the basic needs for victims such as food and clothing and will help support the staff working at the shelters.
Refuge House provides shelter to over 350 domestic violence survivors each year.
Meg Baldwin, Executive Director of Refuge House, expressed what this grant really means for the organization.
"It means that every domestic violence survivor who comes to us for support and shelter will get that support and shelter 24/7 every day of the year," said Baldwin.
Baldwin hopes that through the Refuge House, the number of people affected by domestic violence will decrease. She asks that if anyone needs help, please reach out to the 24-hour crisis hotline at 850-681-2111.
