JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say one Marianna woman is dead and two Georgia residents are in serious condition after an alcohol-related wrong-way crash in Jackson County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened Monday night around 11:25 p.m. on U.S. 231 in Jackson County.
They say Jana Bagget, 41, of Marianna was driving her 2017 Toyota Rav4 northbound in the southbound lanes on U.S. 231 when she got into a head-on crash with a 2018 Toyota Corolla. Investigators believe that the crash was alcohol-related and say Bagget may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Bagget was taken to a local hospital where she later died of her injuries. The male driver and the female passenger inside the other car were also taken to the hospital where they are listed in serious condition.
FHP says charges are pending investigation.
