GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Chattahoochee Police report that an elderly woman is dead after driving her vehicle off a dock and into the Apalachicola River.
Police said the car was found nose down near the Apalachicola River dock in Chattahoochee around 1 p.m. on Sunday.
A responding officer saw the car go down into the water, waded out to the dock, and tried to see if anyone was inside but could not see or feel a driver.
Once divers were called in, police said an elderly woman was found inside the car.
An autopsy Monday morning revealed the woman died of apparent drowning and foul play is not suspected. Police believe the incident was an accident at this time.
Police have not identified the woman.
