TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Walmart on Apalachee Parkway is making sure at least 100 kids will have access to their Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Big Bend Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO, Alva Striplin, says as they were switching to a virtual platform they realized a lot of their kids don't have laptops.
That means they couldn't connect with their big brother or big sister.
"Not only could they not connect with their big brother or big sister, but they're also really going to struggle as we transition to virtual education," said Striplin. "So, the need was there. We got in contact with Walmart, they said, 'We want to help,' and then we put it out to our community and raised the money in two weeks to purchase 100 chrome books for our kids."
The store manager for the Walmart on Apalachee says they donated $5,000 to help purchase the laptops.
