WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. — Wakulla County teachers will be getting a pay raise.
During the Wakulla County Schools' monthly board meeting on Monday, they voted unanimously to approve a contract for salary raises and increases in health insurance contributions.
Both will be retroactive to begin at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
According to the Wakulla Classroom Teachers Association, the salary increase will depend on teacher evaluations.
The president of the Association, Elena Mhyre, who's been at the forefront of negotiating the teacher pay raises, told us following the decision:
"Wakulla Classroom Teachers Association is really excited about this collaborative and positive agreement with Wakulla County Schools. We're grateful for Superintendent Pearce and all board members and we're hopeful for the future."
