WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. — Teachers in Wakulla may be getting a little more money every month.
The Wakulla School Board along with the county's Classroom Teachers Association have negotiated a contract for teachers to get a pay raise.
The school board's goal is to bring teacher pay closer to those in Leon County.
Wakulla Classroom Teachers Association President, Elena Mhyre, says high insurance costs were a major concern for teachers in the county, but the new proposal gives her hope.
"In small local communities schools are really the hands and feet of the community consistently," said Mhyre. "Our school board and superintendent Pearce really recognize that so we're really hopeful for the future here in Wakulla."
The Wakulla County School Board will vote on these pay raises on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
