WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office is investigating after four puppies were abandoned in a plastic tote in the Apalachicola National Forest.

On Monday, deputies said Wakulla County Animal Control recovered four puppies that had been abandoned just off the roadway in the Apalachicola National Forest.

They said the puppies were left in a plastic tote and found near where the pavement ends on National Forest Road / FH 13. After being recovered, all four puppies are currently at the Wakulla County Animal Shelter and are "doing fine."

Now, WCSO has opened an investigation into the incident and is asking anyone with information regarding who dropped the puppies there to call them at 850-745-7100 or our tip line at 745-7190.

If you have questions about possibly adopting the puppies, call Animal Control at 850-926-0902.
