TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Veterans across the Big Bend region are getting the help they need to get back on their feet.

The Big Bend Honor Guard along with other organizations are hosting Veterans Stand Down starting Friday and continuing through Saturday.

The event provides different services to veterans such as dental, vision, mental health, legal assistance, and more.

All the services are free of charge.

One of the organizers of the event says this is year is one of the bigger turnouts they've had and is happy to help those who fought for our freedom.

"The least we can do is help them with the services we have available," said Dan Hendrickson, the president of Tallahassee Veteran's Legal Collaborative. "It's really important. The veterans need to know that they are appreciated."

Veterans Stand Down will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Florida Fairgrounds.
