Valdosta teen arrested for armed robbery

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A 15-year-old Valdosta teen was arrested after police say he robbed a victim at gunpoint.

According to the Valdosta Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block West Magnolia Street in reference to an armed robbery on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to the nature of the call, officers saturated the area.

VPD says emergency 911 dispatch also sent out a BOLO with the suspect’s description and he was quickly located and detained without incident.

The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old boy.

The victim and witnesses told officers that the teen approached the victim with a black handgun and demanded property belonging to the victim.

Police say he stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim and then quickly fled the area.

Later during the investigation, officers were able to recover the victim’s money.

As of Wednesday, the teen is being held at a Regional Youth Detention Center on the charge of armed robbery.

VPD says fortunately no one was injured during this incident.
