VALDOSTA, Ga. — A Valdosta Police Officer is continuing on with his job with a smile on his face despite his diagnosis of stage 4 kidney disease.

School Resource Officer Travis Hodges went to the doctor for pain in his side, but learned his kidneys were only functioning at five percent.

He's now in dire need of a kidney transplant. Despite his condition, he is still finding ways to keep a smile on his face, living each day as if it were his last.

"While I'm here, I'm going to just grind it out until they tell me 'hey, we don't want you to work anymore'. But hopefully, you know, the kidney transplant comes along and we just go from there," said Hodges.

With the help of social media, the Hodges family and the Valdosta Police Department, hope to spread the word to find Travis a kidney donor.
