VALDOSTA, Ga. — Valdosta is making the holiday season special for people living at the Parkwood Developmental Center.

Valdosta's mayor, fire chief and members of the fire department delivered gifts to more than 100 patients as part of the mayor's Christmas Motorcade.

Every year, cities across Georgia collect and deliver gifts to patients at state behavioral health hospitals.

Mayor John Gayle says it's great to see how excited everyone is to open their gifts.

"To see the excitement that these kids have on their faces at whatever the gifts are, some of them are just minor things, there just so excited about anything they get because for some, they wouldn't have a Christmas if it wasn't for this," said Gayle.

They gave gifts to patients aged 7 to 73.
