VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — Officers with the Valdosta Police Department arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly called in a false bomb threat while live streaming on social media, according to a release from VPD.

On Jan. 12 just before 4 a.m., VPD officers responded to the 1300 block of North St. Augustine Road after receiving a 911 call about a car in the parking lot containing a bomb, the release said.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers saw Michael K. Heard, 25, using his cell phone and live streaming on a social media platform, VPD said.

After speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence, officers determined that Heard had contacted 911 and made the false bomb threat.

Based on the evidence, officers found probable cause to arrest Heard and charge him with a felony count of terroristic threats and acts. Heard has since been transported to Lowndes County Jail as of Wednesday.
