VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A change is coming to Valdosta's Mayors Motorcade this winter and the city needs your help to keep the event going.

The annual event usually allows patients at the Parkwood Development Center to meet Valdosta Firemen and receive gifts.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the fire department will no longer be allowed to enter the center.

Donations such as clothes, toys, and personal hygiene items are now being accepted.

"It gives them such joy to see that and interact and we hate that we won't be able to do that this year," said Dereck Willis, a Lieutenant with the Valdosta Fire Department. "But they're still going to enjoy it. When we walk in with the gifts they brighten up."

If you are interested in helping out the Valdosta Fire Department, you can drop off donations at Station One on Oak Street or at City Hall.
