Valdosta Fire Department responds to structure fire on South Oak Street

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A Valdosta building has been damaged after a fire broke out in the 600 block of South Oak Street on Thursday.

According to the Valdosta Fire Department, firefighters received a call from dispatch at 3:18 a.m. on Thursday, notifying them of a structure fire at 615 South Oak Street.

VFD said the first fire unit arrived within three minutes to find heavy smoke extending from the rear corner of the building, and crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly.

No injuries were reported. The Valdosta Police Department and South Georgia Medical Center EMS assisted with on-scene operations.

A total of sixteen VFD personnel responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
